A Multi-phased master plan to expand community amenities, resulting in multiple construction projects, on 177 Acres. 28,000 SF completed, 1980-2018
The new master plan for Sun N Fun RV Resort addresses the facilities goals of adding several new structures, providing additional parking, and instituting Low Impact Development (LID) practices throughout their facility. Carlson Studio took advantage of the master planning process to point out new water management techniques and better land usage to create a cohesive site. Using new LID practices the resort has maximized their potential without exceeding the allowable impermeable areas. In addition, the organization is dedicated to having all its new structures LEED certified through the USGBC.
The first project, a housekeeping building, earned LEED certification in 2011 and the 2nd, an indoor pool and exercise facility, (aka Life Style and Wellness Center) earned LEED Gold certification in 2012. Most recently Sun N Fun completed the 3rd phase of the plan, a renovation to their outdoor bar & grille.
Other master plan features include extended pool decks, a new recreation facility, and reprogrammed existing building uses. The new 18,000 SF Life Style and Wellness Center was designed to attract the baby boomer generation of residents by providing new, modern services. The building is comprised of a therapy spa, a 25 meter indoor pool, exercise rooms that overlook the pool from the second floor, along with an upstairs aerobics room, steam & sauna rooms, locker rooms and access to adjacent exterior spas and pools.
